- National Museum. Wrapped in a charming terracotta traditional building, the museum is home to ancient Khmer art, including stone sculptures, artifacts and statuary. The open-air pavilion fronts a beautiful garden that offers a relieving escape from the Phnom Penh heat.
- Royal Palace. The official residence of the current king, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, is a royal compound with classic Khmer architectural features and towering spires, gilded halls and elegant golden nagas.
- Silver Pagoda. The pagoda is also known as the Emerald Buddha. Its floor is covered with more than 5,300 silver tiles. The Silver Pagoda is home to the life-sized gold Buddha, which weighs 90 kilograms, and the Emerald Buddha, which is made of Baccarat crystal.
- Wat Phnom. The name is a symbol of Phnom Penh. Wat Phnom is set atop a 27-meter-high tree-covered hill at the northeastern side of the city.
- Riverfront. The riverfront features an array of restaurants, bars, hotels, cafés and shops along one side of Sisowath Quay overlooking the Tonle Sap River. Early risers might like to witness the beautiful sunrise over the river from in front of the Royal Palace.
- Phsar Tmei, also known as the Central Market A place to feel the pulse of traditional life in Phnom Penh, the art deco market hosts shops and vendors selling everything from flowers, groceries, jewelry and clothes to souvenirs. The building is shaped in the form of a cross with a nice central dome.
- Bophana Center. Founded by the award-winning film director Rithy Phan, the Bophana Center acquires film, television, photography and sound archives on Cambodia from around the world and gives free public access to this precious heritage. If the thought of spending a few hours traveling back in time through Cambodia’s history piques your interest, the center is the answer. One can see archival films, documentaries and newsreels from the 1960s, listen to radio recordings and view the rare photographic collection.
- Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide and the Killing Fields. This site is a former high school that was turned into a prison during the reign of the Khmer Rouge regime. The Killing Fields is a soccer-field-sized area surrounded by farmland and consists of a collection of mass burials and a towering monument of human skulls. It is located about 17 kilometers from Phnom Penh and is visited in conjunction with Tuol Sleng.
- Cambodian Living Arts. - Phnom Oudong. About 40 kilometers northwest of Phnom Penh, a mountain topped with the spires of stupas rears from the plain like a fairy-tale castle. Phnom Oudong comprises a row of stupas and shrines in a variety of conditions that can be thoroughly explored at a comfortable pace. Guests can climb the 509 steps to the top of Phnom Oudong to witness the majestic views of the Cambodian countryside, dotted with innumerable sugar palm trees. Best done in the late afternoon for a beautiful sunset moment.
- Sambor Prei Kuk. The latest world heritage site declared by UNESCO offers unique vestiges of the pre-Angkor civilization, Ishanapura, the ancient Chenla Empire. Located 206 km north of Phnom Penh, Sambor Prei Kuk site includes numerous temples, octagonal towers, and decorated sandstone elements considerate as true masterpieces.
- Phnom Santuk Cultural and natural site located in the province of Kampong Thom, Phnom Santuk is a hill of 207 m (679 feet). It is the most sacred mountain of the province with a white-walled temple at his top, including several reclining Buddhas made out of rock, measuring more than 10 m (33 feet) in length. Situated at the top will be two – natural–stone block forming a small hole where it’s customary to make a vow and throw in it a coin. It believes that if the coin reaches the water, wishes will come true.
