The Oriental Legend Lives On

In the middle of the 19th century, when Thailand was still known as Siam, a rest house for foreign seafarers was established on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It was to become one of the world’s greatest hotels: The Oriental.In 2015, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok commenced a comprehensive renovation of the Authors’ and Garden Wings, designed to significantly enhance the facilities and services of this award-winning hotel, and to restore the historic heart of the property to its original splendour.The project comprised a significant reconfiguration of the guestrooms in the Garden Wing with the creation of 12 brand new spacious suites with balconies. The highly acclaimed Le Normandie restaurant on the top floor of the Garden Wing was also gently rejuvenated. At the same time, the renowned Authors’ Lounge – a favourite destination for afternoon tea, society weddings and elegant events – was restored to its classic late 19th-century design, and linked to the terrace and gardens with a series of lounges that pay tribute to The Oriental’s famous heritage authors.Over the years, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has consistently garnered global recognition as the best hotel in the world, famed not only for its excellent facilities but also for its legendary Oriental service that is delivered by a team of talented and dedicated colleagues, many of whom have been with the hotel for over 20 years.We are thrilled to be ‘celebrating 140 years of Heritage, Passion and Service Excellence’ with our guests and colleagues, and we look forward to welcoming you into the Oriental charm of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. 1st FLOOR FUNCTION ROOMS IN THE RIVER WING
Located on the 1st floor in the River Wing,
Pillarless The Royal Ballroom is comprised of three individual meeting rooms that can be utilized on an individual basis, or combined to hold up to 800-1,000 people for larger functions
The Embassy Room - Designed and appointed in the same opulent style as the Ballroom, this is the smaller sized option – but with the same luxurious ambience

GROUND FLOOR FUNCTION ROOMS IN THE GARDEN WING
Located on ground floor in the Garden Wing, The Regency Room - The focal point of the Regency Rooms is the ornate, full length mirrors at either end, reflecting the warm glow of the two hand-cut crystal chandeliers. The room’s elegance and intimacy is further enhanced by the comfortable sofas and chairs, decorated with gold fabric.

Lord Jim’s – Named after the seafaring character in a novel by Joseph Conrad (a frequent guest at The Oriental in the early days), Lord Jim’s is renowned for its magnificent seafood. Buffet lunch and a la carte dinner.    Lunch:   International buffet Dinner:  A la carte or set dinner menu        

Le Normandie – A Two-Michelin Starred Award finest French restaurant is a connoisseur’s fantasy of splendid cuisine, impeccable service and elegant ambiance, all with spectacular river views. A la carte lunch and dinner are available. Gentlemen please note: a jacket is required for dinner.

Ciao - Enjoying a picturesque riverside setting, our brand new Italian restaurant serves classic Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist. Under the patronage of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s legendary Chef Norbert Kostner and the experienced eye of Chef Luca Casini, Ciao will offer guests the chance to sample spuntino - Italian style tapas - or choose from an extensive a la carte menu of Italian classics and imaginative dishes. Dinner: A la carte or chef inspired menu / Chef’s Table / Classic Spuntino / Cocktail selections at the Ciao Bar

Barbecue buffet - On the bank of Chao Phraya River at The Riverside Terrace, every evening, you are free to indulge in a riverside buffet feast comprising an extensive range of dishes, including the finest imported meats, the freshest seafood and salads, and the most scrumptious desserts.

Sala Rim Naam – A classic Thai pavilion sets the stage for sumptuous Thai luncheon buffets and set-dinner feasts. A daily classical Thai dance performance accompanies your dinner experience.
