Venue presentation
It is early autumn in Shanghai and you have just left behind a sky cast in soft shades of crimson. The streets are lined with colourful lanterns as the city gears up for the Mid Autumn Festival and its kaleidoscopic mirages. Before you, is the soaring sanctuary of Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai.
As you step through the inviting doors of the hotel, your senses heighten. Pleased by a smooth check-in, you set out towards your room, eager for the experiences that lie ahead.
You are not disappointed. Before you stands an elegantly furnished suite with an unparalleled, uninterrupted view of the historic Bund. Beyond the undulating curves of the Huangpu River, Pudong’s financial district rises up like a vision from the future.
Hungry after a long journey, you are led by the tantalizing aromas to the threshold of Gui Hua Lou. Your serving of abalone, a treasured Oriental delicacy, is sweet and savoury on the palate.
Before heading out, you book an appointment at CHI, The Spa, for a pampering Asian massage therapy tomorrow.
Day is fading and you see hints of a tender glowing sunset. In the magical hour of dusk, you make your way down to the scenic waterfront of the Bund. Just steps away from the hotel, electric lights illuminate the night. Colours reflect and dance in the waters, giving you a fresh appreciation of the city.
Back at the hotel for dinner, you head up to Jade on 36. From this altitude, you behold the magnificent spectacle beneath the moonlit sky. There is no better view to complement the delicious flavours of Shanghai.
The city holds so much more for the discerning traveller. And the enchantment begins at Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai.
